EXPECTATIONS FROM BRAND BUDHADEB BHATTACHARYA

With the resounding victory of the left front in West Bengal expectations are running high. A very good fallout of this years election is that they have prooved that without rigging or booth capturing
the left front can hold their own. This speaks volumes about their infrastructure and liasoning down to the grassroot level. that is why expectations are riding high. it is this very same infrastructure that can be used to bring a RENNAISANCE in Bengal .
  • send research and technology to agriculture. bring in the technocrat farmer.
  • implement and make the PDS effective
  • improve their civic sense; build public toilets and prevent West Bengal from becoming an open urinal. from this civic sense will automatically rise a pride and self esteem
  • take a leaf from Punjab: learn to market your culture to prevent it from dying out.
  • build up the film industry as an important industry that can bring in a lot of revenue instead of losing talent to Bollywood who is gaining at Kolkata's loss and grinning all the way to the bank. get in more technology here.
  • help establish a flourishing music industry. there is an enormous amount of scope here as yet untapped; picturize Rabindrasangeet with beauty and sensivity; popularize the folk music of bengal(bhangra will pale in significance); help establish the Bangla Bands that show promise. and for all this rope in all those bengalies who are in Mumbai but I am sure will be ready to help.
  • in the cities a lot is happening except infrastructure. construct cement roads once and for all to cver up those jerky manhole covers and improve traffic congestion
  • but in the cities another very urgent requirement which needs immediate action is BRING DOWN POLLUTION. Budhadeb Sir, we are all becoming a sick lot with rising incidence of asthma, bronchitis. Bring CNG into Kolkata. Ask Mrs Sheila Dixit How to.
Mr Budhadeb Sir we are all ready to bring in the Renaissance. Only you have to convince your cadres.

My first impression was of the green lawns lined precisely by those white and red painted bricks and the unending lines of the three tonners and two tonners. This was a world alien to me. This year, when I went to Bhopal to attend a wedding, I decided to do a little Bhopal familiarisation. On asking about interesting places to visit, the first name that came up was, of course, Sanchi Stupa. As I had done Sanchi Stupa, on an earlier visit, I asked for some other recommendations. Then I was told about Bheembetkar Caves. Bheem What ker?  was my immediate response.  Oh, haven’t you heard of it? They are enlisted as a World Heritage site. The Bhimbetkar caves. There are about 12 to 15 caves with colored paintings. Oh wow. Immediately the vision of 12 structured caves came to my mind. And people looking at them, as in a museum, awestruck with colourful paintings. Little did I know it was far from it.
