FUN THEMES FOR BIRTHDAY PARTIES
.Cartoon theme
It was my son’s 7th birthday. I had asked the ‘invitees’ to come dressed in black. As they entered I was to give them a superman mask and tie a dupatta for cloaks. But before entering they would have to tell me the password “Shh koi hei”. The party nearly didn’t take off. The tinier ones were brilliant. But the more blasé ten-year olds just didn’t know. And when I smilingly told them they couldn’t enter, much to my horror, they turned homewards. I had to pin them down as a kid remind them of the magic words and kidnap them. the party was visually very effective
Dress- get dupattas, masks given to them, dress in black
Party- tent made, inside pictures of cartoon characters put up to be identified, children given apparently white papers but actually on them is written in white crayon the name of a cartoon character which they have to decode by painting black paint on it and running into the tent and naming correctly.
Elimination game – when music stops they collect the name of a cartoon character and stand on it. The name called out by picking up chits wins – return gifts donated that way.
Cake- mickey mouse
Password – shh koi hei
Train theme (majumdar station)
Dress- dungarees and get a scarf to be tied as head gear like workers
Party game- train made out of boxes lined up on pieces of wood made to look like tracks.
Tyres hung on trees behind which had to be assembled.boxes to be opened after a mad rush for keys from moderator. Inside paper to be cellotaped(provided) on boxes, painted blue n yellow by rangoli colors(provided), a window to be made out of chart paper and black paint
Another game form 3/ 4 lines elimination four corners named four different stations.
Password- jeetega jeetega India jeetega
Arabian nights
Furniture removed. A long pole fixed in the center of the room. Sarees hung from there to make it look like a tent.
Dress- girls to wear harem pants and boys to come in pathan suits or long kurtas and scarves- to be tied on the faces of girls as for muslims and round their heads as sheikhs
Basically dance games.
